Interview with Nox (Subsapien: Hybrid)

Nox (Subsapien) Picture this guy at 13.
Me:
Hey, everyone! Today I’m interviewing one of my POV character from Subsapien Hybrid, my NaNoWriMo novel for this year. If you’d like to learn a bit about him before reading the interview, check out his bio. Thank you, everyone who submitted questions! If you’d like to get some tips about interviewing characters, I wrote a post all about it

*turns to Nox, sitting in an interview style setting* Hello, Nox.

Nox:
*waves a little, quiet* Hey.

Me:
Ready for your first interview?

Nox:
*shrugs*

Me:
I’ll take that as a yes. Here’s your first ever interview question from Amy Covel: Hello Nox! First off, why do you have golden eyes–is that from your experimentation?

Nox:
I’m not sure. They’ve just always been that way.

Me:
*nods* And here’s the next question from Sara Letourneau: How do you like your eggs prepared? (Scrambled, omelet, over easy, etc.)

Nox:
Prepared? *shifts in his chair* I just eat them whole raw. I’ve never even had them cooked before.

Me:
Interesting. Here is one from Amy Covel: What do you think you do well?

Nox
I can spray my venom four feet which is the farthest I know anyone can do.

Me:
That’s cool. Ruth Blomgren asks: Does he remember a time before being in the L.G.R. (or his family before)?

Nox:
*shakes head* The scientists said I was aborted by my mom. That’s all I know.

Me:
I’m sorry to hear that … The next two are from Ruth Blomgren: Has he been outside?

Nox:
If you mean outside of my unit building then course, but not outside the L.G.R.

Me:
*nods* Ruth Blomgren: Is he going to escape sometime soon?

Nox:
Escape? I have no idea. I’m not even sure if I want to.

Me:
I see. Here’s one from Cassia: If you could have anyone thing or person in the world that you could keep without consequence, what or who would you choose?

Nox:
*bites lip, looks down for a few seconds* Radio. She was another viper grafting older than me, but she died a few years ago. *sighs*

Me:
*pats his shoulder sympathetically* Next one is from Ruth Blomgren: What does he believe theologically (if he has such beliefs)?

Nox:
I don’t know what “theologically” means.

Me:
It means like your core values.

Nox:
I’ve never really thought about them. I don’t think I have any. I try not to hurt people, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to survive.

Me:
*nods, writes that down* Next question is from Amy Covel: What is your greatest fear?

Nox:
Dying in a really painful way. I’ve seen a lot of bad deaths like getting ripped apart of skewered or cut in half. I really don’t want to die like that.

Me:
Very understandable. The next two are from Cassia: What is your biggest regret?

Nox:
Not being about to do anything about Radio getting killed.

Me:
*sighs* Why do I have to come up with such sad backstories? What do you think is the most beautiful thing in the world? It can be an idea, a place, a scene, anything.

Nox:
Uh … *purses lips while he’s thinking* I don’t see too many beautiful things, but the sunset is pretty. I don’t like the sunrise because that means bad things are happening, but I like the sunset ’cause it means I’ll get to rest for a while. It comforts me a little.

Me:
Did not know that. *writes that down* Here is one from Ruth Blomgren: Does he have friends?

Nox:
No, I stopped making friends after Radio died.

Me:
Amy Covel asks: What first drew you to Izzy?

Nox:
Drew me to her? Well, Caleb begging me to take care of her while he was dragged away was what “drew me to her.”

Me:
And another from Cassia: Do you actually love Izzy and want to protect her or does she feel like an obligation to you?

Nox:
What’s an “obligation?”

Me:
Like you have to do it.

Nox:
Oh. Yeah. It feels like that.

Me:
Right. Next question is from Sara Letourneau: How would you describe Izzy? Do you have a close relationship with her?

Nox:
I’m not really close with her. I just keep her alive. How would I describe her …? She’s whiny, she doesn’t know how to take care of herself, she’s blind, and she has bat wings.

Me:
That’s one way to describe her. And the last question is from Ruth Blomgren: Could you ask him what he thinks of Caleb for me? Also, his eyes are gorgeous!

Nox:
*blushes a little, clears throat* Caleb’s all right I guess. He started going a little crazy after they started torturing him and all.

Me:
And that’s all of the questions for today.

Nox:
That’s it?

Me:
That’s it.

Nox:
Oh that wasn’t so bad.

Me:
Nope. Thanks everyone again for all of the questions. If you’d like to check out more about Nox’s book Subsapien Hybrid, be sure to take a look at the Beautiful People #1 and Beautiful People #2 posts! Thanks for reading! Bye!

Nox:
*smiles slightly and waves*

Nox has the DNA from this guy: A Malayan Pit Viper.
