What I liked: I really enjoyed this book. A friend bought it for me for my birthday urging me to read it and I was like “What is this?” But once I started it I really liked it. The five factions concept is very interesting, and I love Roth’s writing style.
Tris is a great main character to take a ride with she’s strong, but very human at the same time. She’s a good role model, but also able to be related to by the reader. The romance was great. Four is a great fictional guy. 😉 There was a great diverse cast and the twists definitely threw me. The book was very intense especially towards the end. I had trouble putting it down.
What I didn’t like: There was some brief swearing I didn’t enjoy.
Content Cautions: As stated before there is some sparse swearing and also intense images and themes.
In Comparison to the Film: The film stays very close to the book. The characters were casted perfectly. They were very close if not exactly to Roth’s description. Some scenes were cut due to pacing, but very few. The story flowed the same way as the book. The Pit at Dauntless was more cement instead of stone. I’m not sure why they did that. Only one scene was put out of order. The heart of the book was certainly there and the movie doesn’t conflict with the book at all. Fans definitely won’t be disappointed. My full review on Geeks Under Grace!
But all and all I very much enjoyed this book. I’m definitely getting the sequel! 😀
About the Author:
Veronica Roth is from a Chicago suburb. She studied creative writing at Northwestern University, and wrote DIVERGENT (Katherine Tegen Books, May 2011) and INSURGENT (May 2012). The third and final book in The Divergent Trilogy, ALLEGIANT, will come out on October 22, 2013. In the meantime she will spend endless hours browsing Wikipedia in her pajamas as she eats corn flakes. (Or some other kind of bland breakfast cereal.)
You can find her on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and her blog!

So do you think a faction system like that would work?
creaology.blogspot.com
I think it could if it was enforced correctly. People can be persuaded to do anything with the right tactics if they're vulnerable. History has proven it.
So Tori! What faction are you? ;D
Lol. Uhhh … *smacks* This is difficult … Surprisingly probably Dauntless lol.
Kinda jumping in…I took the quiz at the back of the book and obviously I am Candor…but I REALLY want to be Dauntless xD
Heh heh. Cool, Adriana. 🙂 I've taken it before but I've forgotten my result lol.
I loved this book, and I can't wait for the movie!!
A nice, concise review is great to see, since many are way too long and spoiler filled:)
Thank you. ^ ^ I'm excited about the movie too. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
