Tea Tuesday: Iroh

Today is the debut post for Tea Tuesdays! I’ll be posting a review of a unique and uncommon tea every Tuesday.

I’m not really a coffee person. I prefer tea, and I know a lot of fellow writers love tea, too. But have you ever wanted to break out of the Early Grey or English Breakfast norm and try something new? Well, let me help you find some cool new teas! If you need a little hot and flavorful boost to help you reach your writing goal or you’re just a lover of tea or you’d like to try some tea but aren’t fond of the stereotypical types, these Tea Tuesday posts are for you.

This weeks tea is …
*drum roll*

Iroh

How I found it: One night, I was minding my own business and procrastinating on Facebook when I noticed an ad about Avatar: The Last Airbender teas. Feeling curious, I clicked the link and my mouth dropped open. This site had a whole set of teas of different Avatar characters and even more fandom inspired teas! But I particularly wanted this set so after convincing myself that this would be an early birthday gift to me, I got it. XD

The Tea: This tea is inspired by Uncle Iroh, the wise, tea-loving character of Avatar who ends up owning his own tea shop called the Jasmine Dragon. It’s refreshing mostly from the ginger flavor with a lingering lemon after taste from the lemongrass. Though it reflects on Iroh’s character fairly well, the taste was not my favorite. I liked the Jasmine and Ginger, but the lemongrass threw it off for me.

Serving Recommendations: The tea is good hot or cold. Sugar helps cut the aftertaste, but if you like the lemon some fresh lemon really livens the flavor.

How much is it and where can you get it? I found this tea at Adagio this really awesome website for teas. Though I purchased this tea in a sampler with six others, it can also be bought separately. It is $8 a 3 oz. pouch or $4 for a tin, but that’s for a good amount of tea. Their other teas average about the same and their service is great, providing free tracking and lots of deals.

So how good is it? I give this tea three stars mostly because I didn’t like the lemongrass flavor though some people may like it. 🙂

Have you tried this tea? What did you think of it? Have you seen Avatar: The Last AirbenderWho’s your favorite character?

Bonus! If you are a first-time Adagio customer I can send you a $5 giftcard! Ask in the comments for details! (This is no joke and no catch I seriously can. It’s part of the amazingness of Adagio Teas)
